Pueblo Weisbrod Aircraft Museum

The Pueblo Weisbrod Aircraft Museum is located six miles east of Pueblo, Colorado on U.S. Highway 50 at Pueblo Memorial Airport (see map below).

The airport is located on the site of historic World War II Pueblo Army Air Base constructed in 1941. The base conducted advanced training for crews of the B-17 Flying Fortress, the B-24 Liberator and the B-29 Superfortress. In 1948, the base was transferred to the City of Pueblo for commercial and public use. A number of commercial and industrial tenants are located on the airport property today, including the Air Force's Initial Flight Screening (IFS) program.

The museum is managed by the Pueblo Historical Aircraft Society for the City of Pueblo. Its start can be traced back to 1972 when Pueblo City manager Fred Weisbrod began collecting vintage airplanes at the municipal airport.

Today the collection includes about 30 vintage aircraft, displayed outside and in two large indoor hangars.

It also features a number of display of military uniforms of the era, arms and other relics of American Wars. It also includes a scale model of the Memorial Airport as it looked during wartime operations.

The first hangar was constructed in 2001, large enough for half the aircraft collection. Older display space was converted to a theater, library and offices. The library currently includes over 6,000 volumes and 1,500 videos. Four years later a new gift-shop was added, and in 2010 a second hangar was constructed.

Be sure to visit the International B-24 Memorial Museum located in the first hangar, and view its extensive collection of memorabilia and information on all Bomb Groups and Air Forces which utilized the B-24 Liberator in combat operations.

Highlights of Aircraft on Display

The collection is extensive and displays restored World War II, Korean War, and Cold War era aircraft.

Location, Admission, Parking and Hours

We highly recommend a visit for aviation enthusiasts, and anyone with an interest in vintage planes and Colorado aviation history. You'll be welcomed, and treated well, as we were during our recent visit!

The facility is staffed by volunteers, many of whom are military veterans or have other aviation experience. They are friendly, knowledgeable and willingly provide mini-tours of the aircraft and their aviation experiences.

The time-consuming restoration of aircraft is also done by volunteers. Their work is seen in the incredible restorations of many of the planes, such as the F-100 Super Sabre, B-29, C-131A, F-86D, F-84 Thunderjet, F-104 Starfighter, T-37 Tweet and others. More aircraft are scheduled for future restoration, such as the B-47 Stratojet outside.

The airplane gallery is open Monday - Saturday from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m, and on Sundays from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. It is closed on New Years Day, Easter, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas. The Flight Gift Shop is conveniently located onsite.

Parking is free, and a small admission fee is charged. For more information, phone 719.948.9219, or visit the official website of the Pueblo Weisbrod Aircraft Museum. See map below for location and driving directions.
